Introduction:
Legal Division is one of the important branches of
the Director General’s office. It performs activities
as a bridge between NEMC Directorates. Generally it
has the duty of advising the Director General {NEMC}
on all legal matters associated with the performance
of environmental management functions and the administration
of NEMC.
Major
Responsibilities:
• To provide legal opinion on the aspects of
environmental management
• To provide
input in the formulation and implementation of activities
and programmers with legal aspects
• To review
existing legislation related to environment and natural
resources and provide opinion as appropriate
• To seek
knowledge in environmental law and disseminate environmental
law information
• To collect
and ensure physical safety of legal materials, documents
and instruments
• To institute and litigate cases for and against
NEMC
